Terms of Service

Build Specs is a build-log and parts-tracking application for modified vehicles. You can create vehicle builds, record parts and systems, upload receipts, invoices, order emails and photos, have parts data extracted from those documents, ask questions against your own build records, and transfer a build to a new owner.

We provide the service on an ongoing basis but do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time. Features may change, improve, or be removed.

You need an account to use Build Specs. You must provide an accurate email address, keep your login credentials confidential, and you are responsible for activity that happens under your account. If you use the service on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to accept these terms for it. You must be of legal age to enter a contract in your jurisdiction.

The build data, part records, notes, receipts, documents and photos you add remain yours. You grant us a limited license to store, process, display and transmit that content solely to operate the service for you — including running documents through automated extraction to pull out part details.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for the accuracy of what you record. Build records, extracted values and generated answers are aids, not verified inspection or compliance records — verify anything that matters for safety, legality, insurance or resale.

You agree not to:

• use the service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive;
• upload content that infringes someone else's intellectual property or privacy;
• send spam or bulk unrelated material into the email import addresses;
• interfere with or probe the service's security — no malware, no unauthorized access attempts, no scraping, no circumventing limits;
• resell, redistribute or reverse engineer the service.

Build Specs, including its software, design, branding and documentation, is and remains our property. Your subscription grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the service. No other rights are granted.

New accounts start with a free trial — 15 days as standard, or 30 days if you signed up through a referral. Paid plans are $4.99 per month or $29.99 per year. Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel. You can cancel at any time; there is no long-term commitment. Cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, invoicing and sales tax/VAT are handled by Paddle under Paddle's Buyer Terms.

If a trial or subscription ends, we do not delete or hide what you have logged. You keep read and export access to your existing records; creating new records pauses until you subscribe again.

We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, suspected fraud or security risk, or repeated or serious misuse. You may stop using the service and request deletion of your account and data at any time by contacting us.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or special damages, including lost profits, lost data or lost goodwill. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law.

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your use of the service, or your breach of these terms.

We may update these terms as the service changes. We will update the "last updated" date above, and material changes will be communicated by email or in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, and the courts located there will have exclusive jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of law rules.
